L'archivio

We investigate, analyse, restore, conserve and archive to enable ourselves to understand our place in time & space. This not only provides us recognition, but above all it enables stability and control.
My artistic research deals with the disturbances of this knowledge, starting from the fascination for fragments and the fragmentary state of things.

The “Elevator” series caused, by coincidence, an image that questioned me about the photographed space. Not only by the fragmentation meant to be, but maybe even more so by accidently rotating the image. A space emerged which called for answers; what do we see in this picture? It not only shows us what we see but also questions us even more on how we look at things.

The “Section” series uses body fragments as the point of origin. Starting from modern medical research, it appears that even the smallest parts of the human body can be analysed. I have questioned myself if we know more by analysing ourselves in depth. How can I, as an artist, have a deep look in the human body, without any medical knowledge and tools? These photographic experiments not only raise questions about visible versus absence, but probably even more about private versus public.
