Uroboros is an ancient symbol, depicted traditionally as a snake, devouring its own tail. It represents the cyclic essence of matter, the never ending return from end to beginning, selfdestruction and self-revival, the eternal circle of creation and
perishing of life, pro-creation and death.
In my work is such a snake/circle made from the names of towns and villages in Central Africa.
Cities refer to the appearance of humans. This area was chosen purposefully because its inhabitans are regularly confronted with death and the cycle of life and death is a basic part of their everyday life. Namely, the locations torned with military conflicts, high infant mortality, lack of water and food or other problems of Third World countries.
