All paint for this painting was made mulling earth from the Judean Desert and olive tree ash with oils.
A story told by my grandfather influences the subject - growing a watermelon in the middle of the desert. You can grow anything anywhere with hard work. My grandfather died this year, ten days before I got married and months after I moved into a new studio across the country.
