Flying Carp

The flying carp is a mythological creature from Chinese mythology, which carried over to Japanese mythology. In this original design, I wanted to harmoniously combine the pleats of the scales with the fins and tail, while incorporating a lifelike head. The work is folded from a single uncut sheet of gouache-tinted mulberry paper.
