Chandelier

Chandelier

I am addressing conflicting issues of domesticity; the home as a place of comfort, or conversely, a place where decoration camouflages one’s individuality to the point of claustrophobia. While the inspiration for this series come from furnishing many homes, and memories of nuns who were my teachers throughout school, this series also references draped statues from the Renaissance, women wearing the burka, the Virgin Mary, ancient Greek and Roman toga clothing, priests’ and judges’ robes, as well as the pure love of soft fabric providing comfort at home.
