The Veil Series is a collection of digital painting which uses a layering technique to create a texture that ironically unveils the rawness of our surface identity. To some extent, it portrays the paradox of unveiling our own (my own) veil. This series expresses many veils humans wear to protect, shield, or, at times, alter one’s true character. Sometimes people are unaware of their true self because they have lost themselves in the many veils they wear. The veil series allow us to reflect on how we hide, create, and manage ourselves in society. I inquire what is lost and found in these textual mirages, as I navigate through different parts, color, stitches, and bulges in the digital paintings.
