I have been working on the theme of the Iberian wolf for many years and this has lead me to look at wolves and their precarious existence around the world particularly in Yellowstone where they were reintroduced in 1995. The lack of comprehension by many people about one of nature’s main predators continues to concern and appall me. This collection of artworks of wolves who live in a sanctuary in Portugal (CRIL – Centro de Recuperação de Lobo Ibérico) is a tribute to these animals and those who care for them. Although they never can be put back into the wild they can maintain a stable and healthy life while at the same time teach the public that wild animals are an integral part of our planet with whom we must learn to share.
