His work sets out to reveal the surprise and enchantment aroused by examining
microcosms. Indeed a sense of wonder comes naturally when observing nature in detail.
The photographic medium has not been used with the aim of documenting.
The use of ultra-white backgrounds makes for a neutral image, thereby capturing the very
essence of nature.
This procedure has also been applied to other works, and has been rendered even more
radical in the most recent works entitled Web_2010, where the decontextualisation of the
object results in the sought-after astonishment and wonder being expressed without any
distractions.
The subjects portrayed are the cobwebs that Maver seeks out and photographs, set against
immaculate backgrounds. By interacting with the space they actually invade it, drawing the
spectator into an enchanted and astonishing setting where the spectator takes in every detail,
every feature of a scene that is so familiar and yet quite unknown.
The subject ceases to be recognisable and the lines become a graphic sign.
The lightness of the subject calmly invites spectators to come closer so they can see each
particular portrait, accompanying them deeper and deeper into the image itself.
The large formats and the light that seems to come straight out of the photographs convey a
sensation whereby the spectators find themselves experiencing the same feelings that inspired
the artist. On observing the extremely fragile and light nature of these perfect weaves, one is
left enchanted by the power of the harmony and the subtlety of the woven webs that interact
with the space.
This sensation of impalpability triggers reflections on the precarious nature of the cobweb, and
subsequently the fragility and ultimate sense of reality.
