Samurai

An armored samurai cyberwarrior's head slowly explodes. An image that avid viewers of japanese manga and anime such as Masamune Shirow's "Ghost in the Shell" may be more than familiar. This work is part of a selection of small preparatory studies for "The Great Golden Room", a large-scale work inspired by videogames, comic books, pop culture imagery and is heavily influenced by the discourse concerning the modern cityscape and the nature of urban civilization.
This work is a drypoint plexiglas etching painted over with ink and egg-tempera and overlaid with gold leaf.
