The reflections on water is an incredible rebus, a puzzle of lines, tones and rhythms in constantly changing and interacting. Waves that break common images of houses, trees, boats and bridges, pouring them into strange ornaments and patterns.
Dovetailing with the object reflected, the reflection seems reasonable and common. But, if briefly focus our attention on the particular details of the reflection, We begin wonder by diversity and delicacy of shapes and colors dancing on the water. Looking more deeply, we can then recognize other images: circles, hieroglyphics, signs or faces.
For long time I watched the reflections on water. In daylight or sunset, time of calm and stormy days. I made sketches and photograph them and suddenly realized that
these compositions contain abstract in its modulation which is harmoniously and organicaly balanced.
I captured about 1000 fotos of reflections in the lagoon of the Ria de Aveiro, Portugal , it inspired me for a series of oil paintings with the general title "Reflexos Ria"-new view, abstract and mysterious.
There is produced a collection of oil paintings on canvas, based on the photograph realistic reflection images on the waters of the river.
"Reflexos Ria" is therefore an eminently educational project aimed at shedding light on the twofold sense of the creative process. When demand requires the involvement of the artist the viewer / spectator.
In the initial phase it is the artist to reveal the poetic moments of ordinary landscapes. Then their skills and techniques within the classical models of oil painting on canvas transform these realistic images of reflections on the water works of abstract art. Photos of reflections on the waters of river themes are as interesting as the original. Not because they need to add anything, just play on the canvas and accurate the picture with the three-dimensionality that gives the oil. The photograph deals with logical thinking, the Painting turns to abstract thinking.
In a second step I propose the reverse process: the recognition by the viewer / spectator of a realistic context for an abstract image. And in addition, the relativity of the object art, anchoring it to the local identity, surprising themselves by rediscovering places of daily life.
